he had approched me by phone. i have not seen the gun but would sideplates and screws and other parts be availible to get and would it be worth restoring. he couldnt make out the model for sure the said he thought it was a ph i guess he could be wrong the S/N # is 81924 and i looked up the S/N in the blue book of guns. he said it does have the ejector. hope that help and i would appreaciate any info

i just notice i transposed the 9 and the 8 in the title. its a 1983 according to the number i was given. i got a big project going right now and got a little too ahead i guess in my typing

81924 is listed as a lower grade 10ga, capped pistol grip, top lever, W/ 32" stub twist barrels.
Sounds like a parts gun to me from what you've said about it. |

i know it would be a parts gun. would it be worth a restoration? and the guy wants $200 for it or is that a bit much for the peice that are missing?

You would be hard pressed to restore that "gun" without buying another gun for parts. Hammers are very hard to find. You would be much better off finding a complete gun to restore. IMHO that "gun" would be worth $50 but only to someone that needs what is left.

What I was trying to say is: This has already been used as a parts gun and if the side plates/locks and hammers are missing the gun essentially has no action. To find these parts to restore this gun could be quite cost prohibitive and exceed the value of the finished gun.
Look the rest of the gun over and if the remaining parts are in good shape. You may be able to sell them & turn a profit if you can buy the gun right. The $50.00 to $100.00 mark sounds in the ball park, but only if the barrels are in great shape. I watch the different sales sites and see complete guns like this one sell for under $500.00 on a fairly regular basis. |
