It's a GH in a little better than average condition. The bid approaches it's true value IMHO

I suspect the buttstock on it since the checkering on the wrist is not correct.
But other than that, it look slike a nice gun with a good deal of original finish left. Look at the light traces of color on the sides of the action in the close up pics. That is what we like to see.

Tool marks in the muzzles and breech??
Or are my tool and die makers' eyes playing tricks on me. I have never bought a shotgun on an auction site, but aren't they supposed to give you a 3 day inspection option with the right to return for a refund, other than shipping costs, if the gun is not as they described it to be??

Grantham
That is the seller's choice to refuse an inspection period. The buyer has the right NOT to do business under those rules. Mark

Brian mentioned the checkering. What's with the top view of the checkering? Is that OK? I can't get to anything to compare.

The way it wraps around the tang on the top is seen sometimes on Parkers, but very seldom. The biggest thing is the lack of the tail at the back of the pattern on the wrist that tells me it is most likely not oririginal checkering.
The wood is also kind of beat up in the action panel area. The view from the top makes it just look like gouges or dents. But the one pic form the side almost makes it look like it had a piece spliced in for a repair. Pics are bad. hard to tell.

My opinion is the wood is original, based on what I see. At 56313, that GH falls well into the 'early hammerless' category and I think Parker was still deciding what would be their standard. I have a similar gun 55348 that does not have the exact same pattern but it's close enough.
I know the damascus GH 12 on a #2 frame is the red headed stepchild of the Parker world but I like them. And that one looks quite solid, even the screws look a lot nicer than most. |

Looks like wood cracks, or are they just deep scratches? Front sight bead doesn't look original and the chokes have honing marks. Looks like a great receiver with lots of color and there's squat for wear on the bottom corners of the rear bbl lug where it generally gets dinged from being put together. If the bbls are original length it looks like a great candidate for a 'freshening up' and would make a very handsome gun. The color does it for me and the screws look FAR better than most; that much is pretty unusual. Redo the barrels and it would look pretty sharp. A bit too much DAH for most.
