Default Ran across this little beauty last week

A guy I know through another forum had some firearms for sale last week, after the passing of his brother. One of them was this little 22 LR. It's a High Standard Sport King 22LR deluxe model. I have to say I didn't know much about them, but it looked to be in good shape, had what appeared to be decent wood, and I had been looking to pick up a 22LR semi...

This one per barrel stampings was made in May of 1966, and outside of a few light scratches is in excellent condition. I took it all apart, and all of the metal looks brand new. In reading up on them, they have a pretty good reputation for accuracy. He had an old silver deerfield 4x32 scope that had been spray painted black on top of it, which I quickly discarded.

It'll pair up nicely with my 9shot High Standard revovler my dad gave me for my birthday in the early 1970's.... Love running across something new to me like this once in a while.

I really didn't know much about these rifles, and the price was right, especially given todays insanity on firearms and ammo...

I was thinking about picking up a similar remington or marlin.... Id' of had to pay a lot more for either of those.

This gun feels well made, so very happy with it.

The best buy in a semi auto .22 is a Model 63 Winchester with holes drilled in the receiver for a Weaver side mount. Mine, a minty example, set me back $168.00. Those holes are very expensive for the seller.
