Default Rust in a barrel

A fellow brought a black powder muzzle loader to Me that hasn't been cleaned
in about 10 years. It has a Stainless Steel barrel and the inside looks rough.
Any suggestions on the ''Best'' Way to clean in out. Any thing out their that will
take the Rust out?

Big 45 Frontier Pad wrapped around a bore brush on a cleaning rod and chucked up in a cordless drill with a solvent like Hoppe's. In and out - in and out, again and again.

If you could find someone with a sonic cleaner big enough I’d try that first . And after I’d go the drill route but I’m cheap I’d use steel wool with oil in it .

Use a frontier pad as stated, and use some Turtle Wax chrome polish. You will be amazed with how well both of these items work.

First question is this a shotgun or a rifle? If it's smooth bore the frontier pad & drill will work wonders. If it has rifling keep the drill away from it.

Default Rust

Thanks for all the good advice, used up 3 batteries cleaning it. It is a
rifled barrel, Frontier pad and some crome cleaner worked good, along with a Green Scotch brite pad. Being Stainless steel helped keep down some of the
corrosion. Also let it set 24 hours soaking with Hoppe's #9. Looks very Shootabull now.

Stainless steel? First things first. Plug the nipples, stand upright, and pour in soapy water and let it sit a day or so. Pour out, swab and see what you have. Might not be as bad as it looks. Metal might be stained but I doubt pitted. I whole heartedly agree with using the Frontier pad wrapped around a bronze bristle brush spun on an electric drill. Much better than steel wool.
