Default CHE engraving looks different from others

Came across this listing, Guns International #: 101524888 and wondered if this was original engraving on the game scenes or if it has been changed at some point. I don’t recall seeing three game sciences on a CHE and the look of the birds seems much more contemporary than what I think guns of the time were engraved. I am interested in what others opinions are as I learn more about variations in the c grade engraving.

I think they are contemporary. The rest of the engraving looks right to my novice eyes, but the birds are too good, and in relief. JMHO.

Nice gun.

That gun is not original. The wood has been replaced (as stated in the ad), rather crudely. The engraving has either been all recut, or embellished. I wonder if the whole gun is an upgrade (from lower grade). The Overall quality of the engraving is not up to snuff with factory work.

Birds were added see markings on receiver. The ad says restocked. Not original but looks attractive to me. I believe by Googling the name engraving, the work was done by a known engraver.

“BIRDS BY R. SHARTLEY” engraved right below the game scene.

Edited to change A. to R.

It looks like he passed in 2016. I only read briefly, but it seems he was widely known for his work?
