Default A Question for Our Most Experienced Collectors

Does anyone know definitively, or has a very educated opinion on who engraved Parker Shotgun 242434 ??

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind.... I guess I didn't look far enough. I just found my answer in my Parker Pages Digital Archive...

It was engraved in 1977-8 by Phillipe Griffine (Grifnee), one of the world's most reknowned engravers who was working at Francotte at the time.

Hmmm...if I hadn't seen who posted this, my reply would have been, "Ask Dean." I see it would have been good advice.

Even in a half million dollar gun, they put a horned animal on the trigger plate.

What is the story on this one. I know if I had the archives I wouldn't have to ask!

The history of this .410 is not in the PP Digital Archives and I don't know much at all about it except from the few pictures in my saved picture files.

I can only say that at the 2008 Spring Southern it was passed around among a select few behind the Parker/Smith tent. I have no idea who brought it there. Austin took the pictures and I have these three.

Dean, are you sure of the dates those pictures were taken? This gun was brought into the tent at the 2019 Southern by a gentlemen from NC I believe. It sure got some attention from Swanson and others. I wish I could remember his name but he actually left us display the gun for a couple of days. I do seem to remember that he sent it out to be engraved. I've got to believe this gun was talked about on this forum back in 2019 but I couldn't find anything. The gun was at Remington on December 9th, 1942 for reconditioning. It was a VHE .410 with 28" barrels. I was glad I was able to inspect and have my picture taken with the gun. What a beauty!

Yes Chuck, I'm positive it was 2008. It is included on one of Austin's CD's that he left me and this one has a lot of pictures of the 2008 Parker/Smith Challenge event.

There is a bit more information on the gun but I'm not at liberty to share it as I haven't spoken with the current owner.
