Default Given an SBT

A friend of over 40 years gave me a Parker Bros SBT. Serial no 180114. I have a question about this shotgun. It has a Simmons rib. It looks like it was installed at the factory. Did Parker use Simmons ribs.

Not while they produced guns in Meriden

Maybe you could post some pictures. Might help in figuring out what you've got.

I would be interested to see photos of the rib.
Parker SBTs would have had original vent ribs from the factory (as with most all other Makes of SBTs).
I wonder why one VR would be replaced with another one. Unless it was severely damaged or a higher one was desired.

Simmons Gun Specialties of Kansas City, Mo. did a great job of marketing their vent ribs in the 50`s and 60`s. I would guess some previous owner (Trap shooter) liked the idea of the "new" Simmons Vent Rib and sent the Parker to Simmons & performed the work... Have seen other vintage SBT`s with Simmons vent ribs...
