Default LC Smith Grade 5 - Case Color Restoration

I collect US classic doubles. Of those I have always wanted an LC Smith Grade 5 with the deep relief engraved dogs. A while ago I found one that needed just a little care.

Brad Bachelder in Grand Rapids Michigan repaired a couple minor flaws and restored the case hardened colors to as near original colors for the period (between 1895-98, the records are missing) as one could!

The LC Grade 5 is comparable to a Parker AAH. All Grade 5 Smiths were “Made to Order" as engraved on the top rib.

I may get banned from the PGCA for saying this but I think Grade 5 Smiths are as good as it gets when talking American doubles.
