I wonder what he means by this:
"I have repeatly read on shotgun forums that if someone runs a penny auction that the sale results will turn out fantastic compared to a reserve or fixed price auction. To this I show "hogwash"!, especially since I had to buy it, but I'll wait and see. I have not fired this shotgun." Best, Mike |

I wonder why if you have this type of intellegent discussion on the Fox Collectors website, they throw you through the plate glass window in their virtual lobby. Silvers/Fox Events?

Mike, there have been internet forum discussions about the futility of selling guns at auctions with high reserves or high starting prices. Such auctions very rarely result in bidding. The seller on gunbroker is referring to the possible error he may have made in doing it the "right way". Gunbroker sellers are well known for high reserves, so buyers may not give this guy a fair price. There are a couple of sellers over on auctionarms who run all their auctions with no reserve and a penny to start with great success. A seller who calls himself "jackthedog" does it this way and seldom sells a gun at an unreasonably low price. The reason is that he has hundreds of people monitoring his auctions so they all get the attention all sellers would like their auctions to receive. This guy on gunbroker has a hard to find double trigger 28 gauge Repro so he may get a better price than he seems to predict.

I just looked over on auctionarms.com at jackthedog's auctions. He has 43 items advertised, bids on every item except one that has a starting price above one cent. He has hundreds of bids with obviously hundreds of people monitoring his guns on a daily basis. He sells about everything he offers for sale on the first attempt, and occasionally lets something slip out for a little less than he would like. Some of these gunbroker sellers never sell anything at any price, ever.

Perhaps it was NOT a true auction after all.... Relisted after the sale on Guns International for slightly higher $. Another Gun Broker fake auction.
