Thanks, Ken. I feel pretty good about the repair.
I used West System G/Flex toughened Epoxy. Their tech team helped me with any questions, a couple of very experienced gun smiths helped with some guidance.
I used AI on some stuff, and studied British Side Lock disassemble/reassemble videos.
That, and I have extensive experience with turnscrew shaping & fitting.
I created a set of drivers perfectly matched to every screw I encountered. I could do that for a living.
After the set-up and cure, I studied the pictures of the break very carefully, and could actually anticipate where problems would be in the fit-up of the action.
The top tang needed to be realigned some, as well as the trigger guard.
Fitting up the action plates was quite a challenge, and when I felt like I was up against it, I would walk away. These old Brit guns run super tight tolerances. I mic'd everything.
I would not, at my age, try to do this for a living, even though I built my first gun stock about 55 years ago, and have built a few since. I have some skills.
That said, I take my hat off to guys like Brian D, and Dennis Smith who make this stuff look easy.
Trust me, it's not easy, and they earn their money.
