This is a knife that was gifted to me by a hunting friend who taught himself to forge damascus blades. He and his wife hunted deer on my land each year for about 15 years or so. He told me he wanted to do something for me in return and asked if I would draw a pattern of my dream knife. Something I'd love to have but would likely never buy. I did, and specified a coffin handle with ivory scales, and drew out the blade pattern I wanted.
A year later this is what he brought me. A big knife with a thick, and extremely easy to sharpen, blade. Every metal part of the knife, except the brass rivets, is damascus, even the tang. The clip portion of the top of the blade is as sharp as the cutting edge. It is very special because he made it for especially for me. It slices ham and turkey from time to time ..........like a razor would. It's 14 1/4", with a 9 1/2" blade.
I believe a gentleman in the 1830s would have been proud to carry this blade.
