Default Big ruffie

Am I imagining things or is this a big ruffie? It's a suicide by picture window specimen from my neighbor across the road and, I think, the nice adult male that has been coming into my feeder almost daily all winter for the past few years..... If it is, I lost a good buddy here.

May he rest in peace. He looks pretty large (and well fed) laying next to the tape. We watch turkeys, deer, songbirds, the occasional pheasant around home and have been doing so here for 8 years since we moved here. I once heard a local rule about Bobwhite quail in rural Maryland " Don't kill the home flock". These days I am very content just watching all these lovely neighbors. Sorry for your loss, Richard.

Richard, I had never thought to measure a grouse and you inspired me to do so.
This is the one lonely bird I shot in Vermont a coupke of days ago.
I think yours and mine are both big males!

Good specimen for mounting.

Not mine Harold - Gracie did quite a number on his feathers when she caught up to him.

I don't think Dean's is quite as plump! But then in Alaska they would need to be to survive.
