Damn. I talked to Luke a few weeks ago he said they were not taking new work but his dad was trying to finish what he had on back log. I hope his family knows no more pain.

Man, that is sad news. It’s amazing all of the talent we’ve lost this year. My sympathies to the family.

Very sad news,I was at his place a few months ago to pickup a gun. He was hoping for the best outcome from all the treatments he was going through.

Felt this coming a few weeks ago; no replies to some voicemail messages. Rest in Peace, young Lawrence, we all are diminished by this loss but enjoy seeing your Grandfather and Parents, again. I was privileged to know you.

There are some tears in the vault tonight. Thank you Larry for all you did for me, I will always think of you every fall when I load the twins in the truck and head to the high prairies.

Very sad news indeed and much too young to pass. I feel badly for the surviving family especially his children who lost their father, grandfather and grandmother in the space of 18 months. I feel fortunate to have traveled to the shop years ago when both he and Babe were working there and talking with them. There was a time in my mind when Larry DelGrego & Son was a Mecca for Parker Bros. stuff. May he R.I.P.
He was very proud to be the Deputy Chief of the Ilion Fire Department and he served his community for a very long time as a Firefighter. "It is with great sadness that the Ilion Fire Department and the Village of Ilion announce the passing of Deputy Chief Lawrence Delgrego. DC Delgrego began his service to the Village of Ilion on 12/14/1992. He was a highly decorated firefighter and an EMS provider throughout his career. Lawrence was promoted to Lieutenant on 1/2/99 and Deputy Chief on January 11, 2021. Larry received multiple citations for rescues in fires and rescuing a woman from the ice in the canal. Larry loved the Ilion Fire Department and with that came teaching and extending whatever knowledge he had learned over his career to new hires. He always wanted to provide and be the best for the people and the residents he served. After being hired, he became a Basic EMT and continually increased through the levels of EMS to become a Critical Care technician. Larry’s abilities, talents, and sense of humor will truly be missed."

He fought hard and went down swinging, that's for sure.
In addition to his place in Parker history, the stories and comments posted on his FB page from fellow firefighters are a testament to his character. |
