Default Another from the back of the safe...

This one is a pretty rare L. C. Smith 4E 16 gauge, one of about 30 16s made in this grade, 18 with 28" barrels like mine. It's made on the regular frame and has really nice Damascus barrels with tight chokes. It works well on quail in the open country, and will take a pheasant when and if we stumble on one.

Gary: Nice LC. It seems to me that all (or most) of the higher grade early Smiths used some really nice chain Damascus. Your look to be in that arena.

Bruce, I agree on the chain Damascus. It's very reminiscent of Bernard pattern barrels to me.

very nice lc smith the 4 e is a very rare bird for sure...I have a 4 e in the early engraveing but it is a 12 ga....thanks for showing us......charlie

I managed to find a Crown Grade 16 GA with 26 in barrels two years ago. It is now in the hands of a well known LC Smith collector in Maryland. It made the LC Smith newsletter.
