Stan you are right, it is special, created by special people with incredible talent.
I went down to the leather shop today and we used the Fox to make a stiff paper pattern. They will start cutting leather this week. Like the rest of the gun I asked that only certain things be done and then turn the artist loose to use their artistic gift. This worked well with Chris Dawe and Paul Debose. So keeping with my plan the same thing will be done with the leather work. I want a soft leather lined slip with a saddle leather exterior that can be carved. I want Brady Rose carved in the case in cursive as by the time she receives this gun, Cursive will be a lost art no longer taught in school. Brian and Val Davis will be free to carve as they see fit. I did say flowers in particular roses would be nice. Val in January had an article published in the LEATHER CRAFTERS AND SADDLERS JOURNAL. Val asked me to make a copy for a friend and although it is not Double gun related I thought I would share just as a bit of human interest. Brian and Val have never had a TV or a computer, no longer have a car but are well educated and are prolific readers, lovers of music and versed in world history that blows my mind. They stay current on world affairs through the radio, and of course reading. Here is the article. |

Great stuff, Phil. And what a wonderful shot of those pointers.
