Dean
I did not get out but a guy was glassing the fields here this AM and had a youngster out this past Sat/Sun. They talked with a few but no shot. I was at Wrights auction Saturday and a few came into the check in station there. I'm thinking the winter was easy on the turkeys. It certainly was on the deer. |

A big plus where I hunt is the fact that the dairy farmer down the road sold his entire herd last fall so there were no manure piles for the turkeys to feed on all all winter as in the past. He has told me that as many as four hundred turkeys winter over on his farm each year but there were very few around his barns this winter as soon as they learned there was no smorgasbord this year... Which means they will have been in the woods all winter and more spread out over the entire area.
Two weeks ago we came upon a flock of about a dozen toms and about ten hens on a hillside where we normally don't see any until better than the middle of May. Should be a good seAson!! .

The youth hunt here in Utah also opens this weekend. I will be out with one of my grandson looking for ol' Mr. Tom.
These kids are the future and we need to get them hooked young. |
