There was discussion years ago that people thought gualandi was the wad that RST used in their spreaders. That is what I am trying to duplicate.

Still looking for a recipe for these if anyone has used them. I have read a lot of good reviews of em but haven't found a single recipe yet.

hmm finally tracked down a load I had seen posted on here previously:
2 1/2" Cheddite (RST) hull Cheddite or Winchester 209 primer 20 grains International Clays powder GU-1222 wad. 1 oz. lead shot/6 fold crimp 1220 FPS@6800 PSI Which is similar to one that Ballistic Products sent me in their short reloading brochure: Cheddite Ched209 International 20 grains SPARK Lead 3/4 load #8/7.5/7/6 7400 PSI 1175 FPS Somewhat surprising that they limit it to 3/4 oz load when the other load which is very simlar is 1 oz. Emailing with them if that load would work with the Gualandi spreader wad.

I have been using the exact load for several years in all my 12's even if they have longer chambers. I also run 7/8 ounce loads with 17.6 grains of "Clays". All other components the same. (This is my favorite target and small gamebird load). |

These are a straight wall wad so I use Federal hulls.
Here is my recipe with 7/8 oz loads that I got tested from Precision. I use once fired Federal Top Gun hulls for "use 'em once and toss 'em" that are easy to find at your local range hull buckets. Federal Gold Medal or Top Gun Hull Federal 209 primer 18.2 grains Hodgdon CLAYS DX12S spreader wad + 16 gauge OSC over the shot 7/8 oz of lead shot 8680 PSI 1270 FPS Great load and patterns. Opens a full choke to IC. Higher FPS helps disperse the shot quicker when the shot leaves the barrel. |

I have used that clays recipe for a long time. It works well. Mostly I do not like reloading the Cheddite hulls. It takes a lot of adjusting of the machine to get them to crimp well and i have had trouble with the hulls expanding after the first firing as to cause problems in some ejector guns after reloading.
