Nice Steve! Heard tonight that you were up Pittsburg. That would be a nice bear for Scott to mount

Bears are very hard to judge, but this certainly is a very large one. Probably in the 300 LB + range. One of four presently hitting that bait.

Nice big bear Steve, good luck with him. We have quiet a few here as well and they have been talking for years about opening a season but haven't done so yet.

I'd agree with the 300#+ weight call. Looks very fat and healthy also, as does the one in Larry's pic, which also has a very large head for a blackie - more like a grizzly head; that guy is very well fed! I bet you could render 3 gallons of choice lard off that bad boy!

When the ears look short and stubby like that, the bear be a big one! The Department doesn't allow baiting in my game unit due to all the "endangered" grizzlies, which aren't actually so rare at all.
Back to the Parker issue, any reason you couldn't legally take him with a Parker loaded with 00 or 000 buckshot? Now that would really be something, a genuine Parker bear gun. |

We are lucky here in NH. We can bait them, hound them and stalk them. And we still have a very good population.

I've always thought about that myself, shooting a bear with my big Parker 10 gauge magnum. Every year I swear I'm going to start applying for a Michigan permit but I never get around to it.
