This spendaholic Gov. we have in MD., O'Malley (we call him O'Money) has been raiding every fund he can get his slimey hands into. Every year he still needs more so finally the Republican legislators in this state, who are in the minority, have tried to write a bill making the funds for wildlife, transportation, education, etc. placed in a lockbox so the clown can't touch it. Keep one thing in mind. Liberalism is a mental disease. You can't legislate common sense. Also, the Pittman-Robertson act was established in 1937 and signed into law by FDR. It placed a tax on firearms and ammunition for the purpose of wildlife-habitat enhancement, collected by the Feds and distributed to the states.

There is also a Massachusetts fund supported by an extra fee on hunting, fishing and sporting licenses that goes to land aquisition for wildlife and shooting preserves as well as for buffers along lakes, ponds and waterways that he tried to rob as well.

The pheasant stocking program is "Self funded" and is a win win situation for the state. It generates millions of dollars in equipment sales, hotels, food etc. It gets kids off the couch and teaches them responsibility and enviroment. You can see here, that not much thought went into his proposal. This is really a serious situation for the state. Many legislators are attacking hunting in this state. What will the next argument be, Well, we have no pheasants in our state, why do you need have shotguns?

I lived in CT 3 times and never knew until today that there were pheasants in the fields! I did go grouse hunting a couple of time, heard one, never saw one.
