DHE-16, little off face, best smith to fix?

I just received 150683 DHE-16 English grip, DT, SF 28" 1 frame. Its has seen lots of use, most of the screws are boogered but is overall solid nice engraved gun. The only real issue is its a little loose on the hinge. I would like to get it properly repaired....who would be the right gun smith? Thanks all SXS Ohio

Brad Batcheldar did an EH for me. He welded/layered metal. It is perfect now — top lever aligned, etc. I assume the shop still does this work. At the time, it was very inexpensive. I’d sure do it again.

I recall Brad describing the process on this Forum. It might be worth a search.

Doug Turnbull does a nice job with very reasonable turn around time. I believe they charge $350.

Bachelders is in a bit of a backlog still. I would message Brian Dudley about it. I believe he has fixed this issue for others in the past.

Kenny , I had Larry DelGrego do a CHE for me a few years ago ,ended up with a new Roll Pin and was put back on face ,he did a wonderful job and turn around was very quick at that time ! He told me three weeks and that's what it was ! I hate to hear three weeks and then have my gun held hostage for 6 Months to a Year ! I wont go into the cost here , it is irrelevant because it also had a Broken ejector Rod which was another reason for sending it to Larry and I ended up needing a new one and having it fit and timed as well which ended up being rather costly !

Last I heard from Brian he was not taking work from new customers, maybe he can clarify his current situation with respect to new business. Brian would be my first choice if he accepted the work.

Regardless of who you choose to do the work, insist that after the work is done the doll’s head still fits perfectly.

A new over sized joint roll is the way to go. Brian D. Or Larry D. Is where i would send my gun. They both have the wright parts.

All good reports...The gun is well worthy of some quality repairs. It does not look like its had any refinish work in the past, it has real nice figure wood and a skeleton but plate. I would like the work to be invisible if that's possible. The hinge pin is out of time also and I would like a couple new screws or good clean up of all the boogered screw heads. I will post some pictures of my new gun ASAP. The only reason I bought this one is because I have wanted a early DH grade 16 for a long time! and this one has hi stock dimensions that I will be able to shoot! I hopes its ready in time for Housman's… 28" choked .013/.030 Look out!!!....(-: SXS Ohio

I am just being very selective and trying to not take in more than I can handle. I am already uncomfortable with what I have in house now. And I want to work my backlog down. I am just ONE person and it is difficult to keep up.

I can say that I know one way that some of these guys get out to 4-5 years backlog. It is by taking EVERYTHING that comes to them. It is VERY easy for things to get out of control.

If your gun is tight and on face on lockup, but just has some movement with the gun open, it is likely forend lug wear and not so much hook wear. Or a little combination of both. Some movement on the hook when open is not unusual for a gun that has seen some use. The graded Parker forend design (as well as graded foxes) do not hold up well over time and things wear and become loose.
