Way too many friends list that day. Will never forget or forgive. Almost lost my daughter but for the Grace of God. We must stay vigilant and strong no matter the political climate

My memory is not as good as it used to be, but I remember every moment of my morning on that day.
I listened to the whole event unfold on my car radio on the way to work in Las Vegas, then was glued to the TV for days after.
The lack of any civilian aircraft in the sky, with only military craft overhead left an indelible impression.
The horror in the voices of people I knew from NY. The quiet outrage of everyone I knew, especially those with military backgrounds. Everyone wanted to just do something!
How could we ever forget that day.
Our American Flag is flying in my front yard in defiance of evil!

I remember that day as well. but as a 58 year old man, and now at 80 I. question all the young people of this country, here is WHY. I joined the Army in Summer of 1961, was sent off to Southern France shortly to a small Army post. I was a Teenage Cryptographer in the Signal Corp. This was 16 years after the end of the war in Europe. The French Countrymen loved us GIs. Looking back on that now at 80 I think about how Ancient History WWII was to me then. Is that the way the youth of today consider 911? It is amazing how our perspective on life is related to our lifespan and where we fit in. Just for another thought on this day of remembrance.

Today I got this message via email from a high school classmate friend who earned his living as a medical instruments salesman. It tells the story from yet another angle.

"The orthopedic company I work for sent a huge semi truck to Westchester (FedEx was grounded) filled with trauma instruments on the night of the 11th. We met it at 7am on the 12th at the Westchester Marriott and put the instruments into trays, and the implants together and loaded a truck to send into the city for the Hospital trauma centers. The truck was turned away - no need for the equipment.... no survivors..... terrible...."

What's equally as troubling is that our schools teach very little, if nothing, about that day and WHY it happened.
