Default Loan of an O frame 28ga barrel

Gentlemen
I am having Simmons make a 28ga O frame hammergun barrel for my O frame 20ga(sleaved) We need to borrow an O frame hammerless 28ga barrel so they can "map" the contours for mine and future 28 ga barrels. If you have one I would appreiate letting us borrow it for a day or two.
Thanks David

Dave, the swamp of the factory 0 frame 28 gauge barrel is not something they need to imitate. I think they can figure it out themselves and keep the weight reasonable, using their vast experience. Most of us are looking for longer barrels and what we would send them to imitate would be shorter and probably too much on the light side. I trust them to do it right without a model gun to copy.

Default Barrel Contour

Measure twice cut once, but I thaink that putting your 20 ga contours on the 28 will allow the original fore end to be used

Best, Austin

Simmons has requested barrels so that they can duplicate original contours of the O frame 28's. Length is not relevant. Simmons can determine what the contours should be based upon a 20, but we have expressed to them how detailed Parker collectors are and mentioned that if they are not exact duplicates of the original 0 28's there will be somebody who will mention it on the forum. There are some 0 28's out there and it would be a service to the collecting community if Simmons could have a barrel set for a few days. 28's will fit on a 20 forend, there will be a small gap. I don't know if 20's will fit on a 28 forend.

While Simmons demonstrated to us ( CH and me) that they have experience making Mod 12 and Superposed barrel sets, they have no experience making Parker barrel sets, either vast experience or half vast experience. Therefore the request for barrels to duplicate so that collectors are pleased at the outset. We have no interest in this other than to help the Parker community; neither of us have barrels on order.

Guys: In response to Bruce's prior post, I called the guy at Simmons on Thursday evening, got the anwswering machine, and left a voice mail offering my 0 fr, 28 ga., 28 in. Vulcan bbls as a pattern. He hasn't called me back yet. Harry Collins was so kind to me when he offered his chamber reamer sight unseen that I feel its the least I can do to help propagate the line. Hope it works.

Thanks guys for helping the Parker collecting community. I'll call Mike at Simmons in an hour or so when they open and inquire about status.

I'm thinking that this new concealed carry gun needs a bit longer barrel and maybe they can help on that too.

I talked to Mike Griffin of Simmons this morning, he tells me that he has talked to a couple gentlemen who have offered their barrels and the matter is being taken care of. He sends his appreciation to all who have shown interest.
