Default Colorado Blue Grouse:

My son Jason enjoyed a beautiful day today, scored a double on the Blue’s. One flush, two birds.
He didn’t ask to use a Parker, just likes carrying the lightweight Deluxe Ithaca 20 gauge. There were more grouse available, Jason felt two birds were sufficient.

Great photos and nothing wrong with a classic pump like that Ithaca 20!

The Idaho Fish and Game now calls them Dusky Grouse. Always blue grouse to me. Nice he stopped at two to save some for another day. Thanks for the post.

Great pictures and great country. I shot Sage Grouse near Craig, CO in 1970 and on my way back to Lowry AFB I got some forest grouse in the mountains.

In my youth the Washington State Game Department listed the forest grouse as Blue, Ruffed & Franklin. Franklin has now become Spruce and the Blue divided into Dusky & Sooty.

I'm in the process of swapping the oversized and ugly slide wood on a nearly pristine early 70's vintage 20ga mod 37 for the old fashioned corn cob slide wood. Bought the new wood from Ithaca and it will make the gun far more attractive. I learned to hunt with my grandfathers 12ga mod 37 and think they are the best pump ever made.
