Default 2023 Spring Southern

First, SAVE THE DATE! The Spring Southern for 2023 will take place Thursday April 27 to Sunday April 30, 2023.

Here is a message from Ed Strickland of Deep River:

To our valued participants in the coming twenty-third Southern Side By Side Championship and Exhibition,

We so appreciate your support and participation in this very unique annual event, we love having you here with us in the land of the Deep River, and look forward to April 2023 where we are excited to offer it again.
I certainly don’t want to complain about the continued growth of this event and with the beautiful weather we had this year as we experienced record participation.
Yes, that brought some challenges but we got through it.
After reviewing the event and following many discussions with participants and vendors we are going to make a change to the schedule.
In 2023, we are extending the event by one day and will open the course up for shooting the Championship Events and open the Exhibitor areas on Thursday, April 27 at 9:00 AM.
You will be happy to hear we will return to the format we have used in the past with 16 stations on the course with 8 for big bore and 8 for small gauge.
Slide action, black powder, and muzzleloader will still be held Thursday at select stations on the course with designated shooting positions. These are minimal targets and should move along rather quickly. These events can be shot anytime on Thursday.
Friday and Saturday’s events will run as usual and we will hold the main event on Sunday, and Rick Hemingway’s events will run as always with the exception of 10ga being added on Thursday.
He will also be open for practice on Wednesday from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
The Vendors will be setting up on Wednesday however THE TENTS WILL BE CLOSED until the show opens on Thursday, Please allow them the time and space to get set up.
We made this change mainly because we had a record number of people here this year on Thursday and by adding the extra day will give you the participants more time to shoot the events you want to shoot in and have time to spend with the vendors.
We can’t expand the space but we can extend the time. Let’s give this a go and our team here at Deep River Sporting Clays look forward to seeing you in 2023.

Sincerely,

Ed Strickland

I figured a bunch of folks are on the email list. This is for the folks who are not and also for everyone to get it on the calendar now so there are no excuses not to be there

I’ve honestly about decided to do the challenge events only there . But since they stretched it a bit I may go on and do a couple course events . But to be honest with 10-16-20 challenge events as well as the main and hammer that’s enough to keep me going . Almost forgot , I’m sure there will be another 8 get together Friday morning .

Necessity limits me to the Parker-Smith events, but that is plenty anyway
