Default Dog first aid book or trainings?

Can anyone recommend some books on dog first aid or even have some knowledge on where they might hold trainings? I spend about 40-60 days a year hunting depending on the weather and with the remote areas I find myself in and proximity to civilization I feel like I’m playing with fire. I carry a myriad of first aid stuffs for myself and for the dog, but anything else I can learn would be valuable.

If you join and search the Facebook page for the Bird Dogs and Fly Fishing group you'll find some great information about dog first aid and field first aid kits.

I have a small first aid (for dogs) book that goes with me. It has helped on several occasions. My wife carries the first aid kit that we have put together ourselves. We look up area vets for the places we travel to, and that has been used too often for my liking.

I can go get the book info if you’re interested.

The last issue of Pheasants Forever magazine had a good article on various dog first aid kit set ups. I saved that article, well thought out with some good info. It wasn't about performing first aid but it gave you a starting point for first aid gear.

Many of the gun dog supply houses carry kits, videos and books to cover this.

Dylan, Sorry this took so long. Here's a couple of photos of the book with the publication info (and scale). As you can see, it's small enough to carry in a pocket. Pretty decent for common mishaps and injuries for our pups.

I hope this helps.

PS The best training in my opinion comes from an experienced trainer that you have confidence in and whose work you have seen first hand. The best trained dogs are those that have the "best trained trainer." If you as trainer are not consistent and perceptive, your dog will not be at its best. Advice worth what you paid for it.

Have fun, learn from your dog (who knows more than you about many things), and be safe.

Take a look at Ugly Dog Hunting's website. They have a first class dog first aid kit with a handbook. About $130 BUT for my dogs...just fine. Sku UD 1998
