To my knowledge an official block of rooms has not been secured as of today. It was reported back in October that the Hampton was already full. Has anyone tried them lately to confirm this? It was also reported then that the Comfort Suites had not blocked off any rooms but that they intended to for Deep River and the price was going to be $150 nightly. Not sure if they have actually done so but I suspect it may be a bit early. That's all that I have heard on it so far. I can try to touch base with the fella that has graciously handled this previously tomorrow and see if he has any news on the matter.

Thanks Randy - is this “gracious fella” the PGCA’s point man on organizing the event logistics?… or do we even have a point man yet?

The "event" at the 2023 Southern would be the HOF dinner and not the annual meeting. Not sure if those fellas have blocked off any rooms at the event venue or not. Maybe Jeff will comment on that. I was speaking in general terms of the Southern previously. Let me check it out and report back.

Yup, I knew the HOF Dinner was taking place then but it is also when the Southern and the PGCA vs LCSCA Challenge Cup were taking place. I intend to attend all of it and just want to get ahead of the curve re booking a room.

We reserved our rooms about 2-3 weeks ago. Start calling around, you'll find lodging.

Comfort Suites
It is becoming necessary to book MANY months in advance of the Southern to get a decent rate. I reserved my room on October 31 and got a rate of $116.25 (Thurs) and $125.40 (Fri. Sat). Today the same room is $230. Book your rooms now unless the PGCA or Foundation gets a block of rooms.

I checked the known local hotels and this is what I was told.
Comfort Suites: 919-842-5600 They do a rolling generic room block every year in which they set aside the entire hotel for the Southern. Right now they have rooms at $140 + tax. There is no other room blocking or discounts available. That's what I was told. Days Inn: 919-776-3150 They would not block off any rooms unless I put them on my card. We're close fellas but we ain't that close. After discussing with "Tonya" she agreed that she would give the PGCA members a rate of $81 + tax. Right now they have rooms. It's not the Ritz but several members have stayed there for years and keep going back. I stayed last year and am going back as well. The Hampton: 919-775-2000 Miss Cindy is the one to block rooms, she was gone. What is confusing here is that we were told back in October that nothing was available, today I was told they have several rooms. Right now the going rate is $152 + tax. I can check with Miss Cindy on Monday. The phone numbers listed above are direct and not to 3rd party vendors handling their reservations. |
