Default Just another VHE owner trying to put her together

I finally traded up to a 1933 vintage Parker VHE, in pristine condition. She's a work of art and I wouldn't trade it for 2 Winchester 21's!

My only problem is that I cannot get the forearm on her! The barrels go on with ease but the forearm won't. Based on what I read an ejector needs to be reset but, darned if I know how. Does anyone have a video or instructions telling how to do this? Thank you.

Dave

It sounds like The ejector hammers need to be pushed back and cocked. This can be done with a wooden dowel.

Hello David ,if you go to the Parker Home Page ,look down the left hand side until you see FAQS , click that when the next page comes up scroll down until you see Parker Repair and Maintenance ,click it and go down to # 7 ,you will see my bony old fingers holding a pencil resetting the ejector hammers with the eraser end of the pencil ! They are strong and require a lot of push if the pencil slips the eraser wont mark your gun ! Good Luck with it !

I keep a "tool" to do this, because it happens with a lot of guns besides Parkers. I like the dowel Brian mentioned because it is firm enough to take the pressure but still non marring. I actually use a square wood dowel sold at woodworking suppliers (proper name stick) trimmed off at a slight angle. It lets you slide it along the forend iron to keep everything lined up. A small square of oak or any ard wood will last a long time. I keep it in a work bench drawer where I can grab it.

Art, it's nice when we use proper terminology such as "stick". It's easier to understand.
