Default Repro 16/20 on GI

What do the experts say about this gun https://parkerguns.org/forums/showth...arrels&page=3?

I would guess the barrels are Merkel/Galazan. I’ve attached a pic of what I think are the 16ga barrels attached showing the rib extension. It appears to be un-matted. Hard to tell about the gaps. I’ve asked for a better picture.

Overall I like this gun and the price seems reasonable in today’s market.

Am I reading this right, or missing something important?

Thanks in advance,
Brett

Bob,

Thanks so much for the pictures! Is the general consensus here to hold out for an example with the “original” Krieghoff barrels and pass on guns with the aftermarket Merkel tubes?

Best,
Brett

Best,

Those Merkel-made barrels Galazan sold were very decent snd servicable. I bought a set for my Repro 20 two-barrel set Skeet gun in order to make the gun more versatile.

Thanks Dean, good to have feedback from someone who has used the Merkel barrels!

I bought 16 gauge Merkel 28" barrels for my existing (an original) 20 gauge 2-barrel set. Knowing they weren't original to the gun and wanted them to be versatile I had Briley thin wall chokes installed. Love the set up for upland birds and clay sports.

I have an original 16-20 repro with the Kieghoff barrels. When the Galazan 16ga barrels came on the market I bought a set of them & fit them to the gun.

My opinion is that the Galazan barrels are of very high quality but should be viewed as aftermarket non-original and a 20ga repro with a pair added should be priced accordingly due to it be a made up two-barrel set.

With that said: Also keep in mind that in todays market a set of Galazan repro 16ga barrels by themselves would probably easily bring north of $2000.00
