Default Left the Parkers at home, but still got some trophies

We've been running the dogs at local WMAs in hopes of finding new coveys and potential woodcock coverts. The dogs love it. Our puppy, Prairie Rill, is enjoying some of her first outings, still trying to figure out what this it all about.

We must be hitting the antler drop just right, as we have been finding them with some frequency. Only a few woodcock points on early arrivals, however.

Great times to be afield.

Garry I have been out twice at the farm and have covered a lot of territory looking for sheds, so far I am batting zero. A lot of the bucks still have their antlers here in Southern IN. That puppy has something to chew on now

Nice looking pup. Does she just naturally have an interest in finding these? I have never had a dog find a shed.

Rill is at that stage where she will pick up almost anything and carry it. We have a great supply of kindling at the back door as she always clears the yard of fallen branches. I doubt she'll be an antler dog, but I am hoping she's a natural retriever -- not all that common in a Gordon.

About the only time I ever find shed antlers, is when I am looking for morels during turkey season.... And, I don't find them very often, and I'd much rather find a nice sack full of morels over some doggie chew toys. :-)
