I remember that issue - in fact, I may still have it in my dusty collection of magazines I have subscribed to since I was a boy with big dreams of future hunts.

The gun closest to that theivin' setter looks to be a Parker. Take a look at the hinge pin, the nose of the comb and what could be a doll's head.

I love these old works. I used to sit in my uncle's easy chair as a kid and go through the big 3 magazines when Dad stopped by to see his brother. I went through each one for bird hunting articles and pictures

and can you imagine showing up at a polling place carrying a shotgun these days.

Can't tell if it's a Parker, but always enjoyed this one. Have had some retrieving 'issues' myself. My Kate always had to give the quail one good chomp if they were still wiggling
