Default Fall Ritual

Spent yesterday knee deep in piles of decoys. It's the annual "hoe out" of shakers, sinkers, bad strings, no weights, cracked keels, no ID, etc. Had several orphans rescued from the marsh or brush, lost to original owners by storm or plain bad luck. They'll have a good new home with my flock.
Tip to all: A soldering iron does wonders for those shot holes left in your decoys from that guest last year!

Reminds me of the “decoy bees” I read of in Gordon MacQuarrie’s Old Duck Hunters series. Great organization.
