Default Annie Oakley American Experience

Just saw this posted and could not resist. Maybe some had already seen this piece but it was very interesting. Lots of old footage of her shooting and pictures with her guns, including Parkers.

I knew she was a big hit in Europe but did not know that Prince Wilhelm of Germany was so enthralled that he allowed Annie to shoot a lit cigarette from his lips. Annie said that she wished that was the one time she should have missed and might have prevented WWI.

Yep lots of good little tidbits in there. I did not realize she was so small. I think I remember reading about some repairs and adjustments that Parker did to her 16 gauge while back. I think it was in letter the PGCA wrote confirming gun when it was sold at auction a few years ago for about $200k, if I recall correctly.

I wonder how many Parker shotguns sold in that era could be attributed to her use. That was a heck of an endorsement back then.

Sure no worries. I just aimlessly clicked on it and started seeing the old guns and footage and knew some folks here would get a kick out of it. You don't get to see too many actual photos and film clips of her shooting and I thought that was amazing. That is neat about one of her handguns being on display.

BTW JJ went to your website. You do some beautiful work. I think it has been mentioned before, maybe but that is some crazy work with that woman and snake. Was that a commission piece or did you spec that creation. That bear with cutting eyes looks realistic.
