Default Bought me a parker vise

Found it in an old junk shop in TX City. Its a 972 with a swivel base, with the handle and no cracks. The guy in the shop wasn't certain on the price, but we have an agreement in principle, just have to verify price. Will post pics when we pick it up.

That's a new one on me. What are the jaw measurements and does the back jaw have an adjustable angle ? (Like the 272)

OK, Bill you're confusing me. First you said 273, and I suspected you meant 973, but now you say 972, so I'm back to where I was before, as that's another number I've not seen. 973 is a nice size, 3 1/2" and a good all round general purpose vise with a deep pocket (wish I had a deep pocket).

I gotta start shopping in a better class of junk shop.
I have 5 Parker vises at various work stations, one of which is a 973. Mine had a crack welded up, but is otherwise pretty good, and it, and my 973 1/2 are my favorites.
I saw a very nice 973 1/2 at an engine show last spring for $80, and I told myself I didn't need it; a move which is precisely why I know I am an idiot.

well this one will be north of $80, just how much north is the question.

I had previously seen a 20x or whatever the model was the must have wieghed over 50lbs, but they wanted a lot for it up near Austin.

any assistance on the swivel base by chance? The arm work but I haven't been able to make it turn.

I may just need to have it mounted onto something first or it may be a little rusted up.
