Default Getting the kinks out

My Mec 9000G has not been used in some 10 years. It's a 12 ga. and I had just not felt the need to reload 1 oz. target stuff with it. But, times have changed. I had lots of reloading supplies on hand ..........everything excepting shot. I got ahold of three bags earlier this week and brought the 9000G out of mothballs yesterday afternoon. It took me several hours of cleaning and lubricating to get it working like it used to, but I did, and reloaded about 300 shells today.

I had it inside on a shelf, with cloth covers for the mechanisms, but it still was "stove up". Finally, I got all the important places cleaned and lubed and she went back to working like she used to. Felt good, but required some patience to get there.

Remington STS/Nitro hull
W209 primer
18.3 grs. Solo 1000
Claybuster 1100 wad
1190 fps and 5200 psi, per Tom Armbrust

Considering all the other components besides the shot were already on hand, I figure I've got $2.81 a box in these reloads.

I’ve got a friend lives about 8 or 9 miles from me that I’ve shot skeet with for well on forty years . Anyway he is devout to Solo 1000 when and if he can find it :

Solo 1000!! I haven't thought of that powder since my action pistol days!!

Stan, I did the same thing about two years ago with my Spolar. Hadn't used it in probably 10 years and decided due to factory shell shortages I'd crank out a bunch of 7/8 oz practice loads. It too took some cleaning and lubrication even though it was kept under cover, but it runs just like it did when my son and I would load thousands of shells for our clay busting pleasure.
