Default Great 4 Days

Hunted first 4 days Bird Season in Montana, I'd say it average number of Sharptails but Hun's population is far better than last two years. Hunted Ruff and Blue Grouse in High Country with excellent bird numbers, was gasping for breath at times when hunting "high". Next year I'll hunt Ruffs later in the season as young birds were still coveyed with mom.

PS: Pheasant population based on points and flushes looks to be above average.

PS: Cleaning gear and getting pair of boots fixed before heading to the UP of Michigan for Ruffed Grouse in Mid-October.

What a great beginning to the season. Good luck on your MI hunt…and keep us posted.

George, I'll also be getting to the UP around the 16th of

October, until Nov 2. Trying to make a quick 3 day trip up there in Sept if the weather cools down. A fellow optometrist friend of mine is in
Montana now with his lab, have to give him a call.
Planning a trip next year to Montana or possibly North Dakota before the UP trip.

Love the anticipation of readying gear prior to a hunting trip. I've been laying things out for weeks now. .y she'll box is already packed. Bought a 22 King Ranch F150 supercrew with 6.5 ft bed a few weeks ago and had a cap put on it yesterday.
On the way to Hilton Head now, but wish I was headed North, I'm not a beach person.

But ya gotta make the wife happy so you can go hunting!

Hope you and the pups enjoy your new truck — a home away from home.

If some of you have never hunted in Montana buy the OnX Hunt app for you phone and go. Montana has thousands of acres of prime state land non-residents may hunt. Most of the state land will have cattle or be wheat fields but it is open to the public.
PS: The first two weeks of Pheasant Season is busy but then the amateurs go home and in many cases you'll have huge blocks of state land to hunt by yourself or your group.

Truck has a 12 in computer screen and can run OnX while driving down the road.
