Default Cheddite Primers in stock at BP and PR

Cheddites show as in stock BP $64/1000, PR $80/1000. Holy cow that's more than a double from pre Covid.
Still a severe drought in powder, I wonder when this will end, if ever?

Those are now $6/1000 cheaper than a month ago at BP. There is a lot more powder available now, but it's all rifle and pistol powder.

Cheddite 209’s have now disappeared from BP’s website but still showing at $79.99/M in stock at PR. Plus tax, shipping and hazmat. So I called BP and asked why Cheddites not showing at all versus being indicated as “out of stock” as in the past? He said they’re totally out of stock and doesn’t know if/when they’ll get a new shipment ….. not on the horizon right now. As most everyone knows, Cheddite 209’s are made in France. It’s just my opinion but happenings over the past month in Europe might shift production of primer compounds to mixes for military rifle primers.

I also asked about shotgun powders and learned the powders are coming in sporadically in ~ hundred pound lots, and no way to predict when and what they’ll get next.

Cheddite 209's are still being sold by Ballistic Products. I saw them yesterday, it says they are in stock. They have changed their website and a minimum purchase is a sleeve of 5000 for $319.80 plus hazmat and shipping. Limit is 5K per month per customer.

Thanks Pete, that’s weird. If you get on BP’s website, click on powder & primers, next click on primers ….. Cheddites aren’t shown. However if you poke around under shotshell components they are indeed listed as you stated. Apparently the website needs to be updated one way or the other. Nonetheless my conversation with the fella at BP was as I had written, and he confirmed that the product icon had been deleted.

I guess when primers were at $40-$50-$60-$70 per thousand and guys were complaining they should have bought instead of bitched. Hindsight is 20-20. Just sayin' for a friend.

The fact they went down a little is good but I just buy regularly like the folks who did toilet paper two years ago.

Balkers were posting words like Scalpers and Opportunists some 12-18 months ago when 209 primers were rising into the $40. range. Haven’t seen those words used lately.

I've built up a good inventory of 209's over the past year or so, same with components to include powder, wads and shot. Right now I'm pretty much matched up. I really don't need any more 209's but BP’s total cost (shipped to PA) of something like $380. for a brick of 5000 sounds better to me than the same money in the bank at 0.2 % interest. As discussed between friends over coffee at the club.
