C grade question

Default C grade question

What would a factory C grade butt plate be? Skelton ?. Looking at one with old not silvers pad without peak 13 in wood

Standard would have been a skeleton steel butt plate, but could be whatever the customer ordered.

A research letter might address the butt treatment.

I had a C grade made in 1899 that lettered with 2sets of barrels, one was Titanic steel and the other was 4 croille Damascus. It also had a dogs head buttplate per the letter. Serial number was 90681 if my memory serves me correct
