Default C GRADE ENGRAVING

Looking at some of my guns today I noticed that this particular gun had finer scroll engraving than the others of the same grade. I am thinking that it is because a Parker professional shooter ordered it. Does anyone have any other ideas?

It looks more like B grade engraving with the exception that B's had two dogs on each side.

What does your PGCA Research letter show?

Thanks very much. That’s a great letter, one of the better ones I’ve seen.

It has finer , more closely spaced, engraving than later guns because it is an early gun.

The C guns are my favorite! Do you have both sets of barrels?

C.F. Wheal in fact was a competitive shooter, sometimes for Parker Brothers. He owned a C grade hammer ten gauge, consecutive numbered to a couple of other C grade hammer guns shot by Parker Brothers company shooters. Another Wheal gun, a smallbore, was owned by one of our Virginia members. What great early engraving on your gun.
