Default A-1 Special Cheek panels

I have noticed that the checkered cheek panels of the A-1 Special reproductions seem to have the option of containing a fleur de lis or to be plain. I have seen this on the factory engraved models and on the custom engraved models. Just curious as to what accounts for this variation.

Don, I've never seen one with plain cheeks - you're saying it has cheeks like a GH? - do you have a picture you can post?

I suspect this is what the OP is asking about --

Okay, now I understand - the fleur-di-lis within the cheek panels. Thanks Dave.

I have seen more with the flur than without. But I personally prefer the look of it without. The additional flur in that area looks a bit heavy and also repetitive given the flur drop points right behind it.
