Default Pickiest rant of the season

I bought a couple of flats of the Fiocchi Target Max shells, the most inexpensive I could find. I like the shells just fine but Fiocchi must have searched the globe for the flimsiest boxes they could find! The durned things open if you barely touch them, and at either end. After having to refill about half the boxes in the first flat I turned them all sideways when I opened the next flat so I'd grab top and bottom when I picked them up, but still, by the time I got them from the carton to my shell bag I had dumped three boxes - one on the ground, one in my range bag and one trying to get it into my belt pouch at the range.

Went to Scheels today hoping that something else would be just as cheap; luckily the Federal Top Guns were actually cheaper. If I have to buy the Fiocchi's again I'm gonna have to tape the bottoms shut; at least I can cut the chance of dumping them by 50%.

I call them "exploding boxes". Handle with care.

My favorite packaging to hate is the Clever brand flats; sitting upright I usually cut the top off the flat with a box cutter and the front out of it as well so I can pull boxes off my shelves. First 2 or 3 I did this with I found that the shells were all packed upside down in the flat!! Later found that the Challenger brand blue shells are packed the same way! Another colossal PITA is that the Challenger individual boxes are all taped shut over the lids!

I feel your frustration Kevin but I’d rather cut some tape than pick up 25 shells off the ground.

The Target Max sound like the Kent Gamebore boxes. Maybe they think that if they're using old school fibre wads they should be using 1930's packaging as well. Seems like a hard glance is enough to dump the shells. First thing I use to do after removing one from the flat is to slap duct tape on them. Now I transfer them to a hard shell case.
