Yeah, sounds like it is either a factory oddity or a mongrel of mixed parts. Pics would be helpful.

Getting old is not for sissy's, I must have had my head up my ass when I sent out the first comment. The top of the barrels is actually marked Vulcan Steel, and the year of manufacturing is 1929. The grade is VH with a 30 inch barrel. The gun is in beautiful original condition, deep checkering and nice patina.
