Default BHE at Jaquas

I was just wondering if you guys/gals think if that gun left the factory with the dog with bird in mouth on the tigger plate ? It almost looks like it is missing something. Also how long would it take a engraver back then to do a gun like it ?

The gun looks factory done to me.It was probably ordered by the buyer to be engraved as such. I think the engraving is fantastic! As far as how long to do it I have no idea Steve.

Maybe Geoffroy Gournet or Ken Hunt will come on and answer your question.

Default B Engraving

I have had the opportunity to examine some engraving close up, using microphotographs. As I remember, the 16 ga Invincible had about 30000 engraving strokes per square inch, and the frame was completely covered; a "full canvas" as Geoffroy says.
There is a lot of "empty canvas" on that floor plate, and little relief or shading when compared to the dog on the side of the frame. The time spent depends on the individual engraver; but there are more strokes on the sides of the frame than the floorplate.

Best, Austin

Thank you for the compliments on the gun . My dad passed 10 years ago and we just took his guns to Jaquays at xmas to sell . The thing that is most impressive is the wood . I think it is on of the nicest pieces I have seen .
My BHE has 2 english setters flushing a grouse it doesnt have much more on it than this gun. My BHE is a year older than this one . Tell your friends about the gun my mom wants to make sure these guns get into hands of people who love side by sides .
Yours in hunting Chris Hoover , Manitoba Canada We also have some LCS a Hammer Purdey and a VH for sale as well .
