Default 4-H Shooting Sports contest photo

Just wanted to share this photo as there is a lot of discussion on this board regarding youth and interest in firearms.

This is at our District Rifle and Pistol contest eligible to youth 3rd grade-12th grade. For the least populated district in Texas that is a pretty good level of participation. Will try to take a pic again in 3 weeks for our trap contest.

Also, consider there are a lot of kids in our area who shoot but don't shoot competitions and there are many who shoot competitively but aren't going to do so under 4-H as we don't award guns or prize money.

I wish every state had 4H activities like that. It's so good to see.
Back in the late 50's and early 60's my brother and I were 4H members. Chris excelled as a real marksman with medals & badges that I was so jealous of. My preference at the time was the fly-tying group and I became so good at it that I was "on display" as the Eastern States Exposition tying flies for the public to watch.
The Governor and his wife stopped by to watch. She asked if she could have one of my flies. I said yes of course and she stuck it into her cashmere coat....
