Default dogs head vs rubber butt pad

I am a member of the Texas side by side shooting club and I’m starting to shoot My Parkers more and more and I’m finding that the hard plastic dogs head but plate is slipping on my shoulder and having to readadjust the gun to shoot the second shot. Would it hurt the value of my gun if I had the stock cut and a rubber butt pad installed any advice would help

Yes Mike it will seriously hurt the value of the gun. If the length of pull is just right I would suggest using a piece of fine grit sand paper or a piece of rubber (bike innertube etc) glued to the but plate with a removable adhesive like rubber cement. Or if you could use a little more length of pull buy a leather slip on pad which may member here use. Just remember to take the pad off as it can leave a mark on the stock if left on for storage.

Hurting the value really depends on the condition of the gun now.

But it really would be best to add something to add traction. Such as sandpaper, grip tread or a piece of that beretta gell pad.

I would use anything but sandpaper. It can ruin a nice shooting shirt, jacket or cest in pretty short order.

The Beretta gel pads are very good and pretty inexpensive.

has anyone taken the dogs head plate off and installed a thin pad without cutting the stock? kick eez makes a 1/2 pad but don’t know if it can be scored to conform to the curve of the stock ?

Well I don't believe a Trojan should have a DHBP anyways, and being that it's already restored I doubt it'd hurt the value.

There was a dogs head butt plate on the Trojan when I bought it but the stock was broken at the wrist so put new factory Parker stock on it and reinstall dogs head butt plate

Trojans did not have dog’s head buttplates. If it did, then it wasnt correct. And, trojans buttplates were never spurred.
