Default South Carolina Deer Hunting

Some of yall expressed interest in dog driving in South Carolina so I thought I should put up some pictures. Sorry about the Ithaca 10 ga, please move to another forum if necessary.

That's a nice looking Ithaca.

Definitely a different way of deer hunting from the way I do it.

After the dogs roust the deer do you run them down with the horses?

i ve hunted deer a lot with dogs but never off a horse...looks to be a lot of fun but i bet you need a good horse...id probably get a gun shy horse....is every body hunting with shotguns...do yall use buckshot or slugs or both...i like buckshot myself hard to beat a load of oo buck....looks like yall had a 100 percent ratio.... charlie

only buckshot is used. There are standers that surround a certain tract of land and then there are the drivers on horseback that go in with the dogs to jump deer. No they do not try to chase them on horse, if a deer jumps in front of them and they have a safe shot they will take it, otherwise a stander will get the shot. There is nothing like hearing dogs chasing a deer or hearing a driver yelling "LOOKOUT .... BIG BUCK" as a deer is being jumped.

Nice

Just like Robert Ruark used to do it down that way.

I dunno if it beats a treestand for me personally , but I sure whouldn't mind trying it

And I have the Ithaca 10 gauge to do it with although I think I'd rather use my W&C Scott 10 gauge !
