Default Col. H.P. Sheldon’s Parkers

I’m currently reading - for about the third or fourth time - HP Sheldon’s “Tranquility Revisited” (Derrydale Press 1940) and have read a few references to his “long-barreled twenty bore” and I’m wondering if it may have been a Parker?

I have seen the Remington IBM card on his 28 bore, 26” VHE No. 240485 dated 6-19-37 and am wondering if anyone knows of a longer barreled 20 ga. Parker having been owned by him?

Chuck...?

H.P. Sheldon had an Ansley H. Fox 20-gauge, serial number 202105, XE-Grade, 30-inch, straight grip, with Fox-Kautzky Single Selective Trigger in rear position. Ordered chambered for 2 3/4 inch shell and without the usual XE-Grade features of a recoil pad and Lyman twin ivory sights. It was my October 2010 Card of the Month over on the Fox site, but Photobucket deleted the pictures of the card from the archive. I'll put it back up in the Members Forum over there.

I'll bet that's the one he made reference to in his book... unless Chuck knows of a similar Parker.

Sorry Dean, nothing in the archived letters. Unfortunately I can only search the "books" using the S/N, not by name. I did find the entry for him in the IBM card but that's only because you gave the S/N.

In later years he shot an R.G. Owen gun, I do know that much.
