4. Parker - America's Finest Shotgun Peter H. Johnson SOLD

#13 is a paperback, all the others are hard cover. All are in great condition (no handwritten notes, underlining, autographs, seals, stamps, torn pages, stains, mold, or odors). #8 has some fading to the printing on the covers & spine.

Of course, these will be offered first to the PGCA 'brethren'.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Warren, books are like guns in many ways when it comes to value. Condition is important as is (often) the edition. Scarcity also plays a role in the value. A good source to get an idea of value is ABE.com. You can at least see what prices are listed for books similar to yours.

Yeah, look them up on ABEBOOKS or Amazon books. Remember, some of those listings are for books that have not sold at those prices. I recently sold a baggo books on this site and sold many for giveaway prices because these guys are my friends and need my books more than I did.

Below are the results of the first pass through on ABE.com, ebay, and Google searches.
1. The Parker Story 2 vols $150 to $175 for both
2. The Parker Gun Larry L. Baer $12- $15
3. Parker Guns "Old Reliable" Muderlak $75 to $90
4. Parker - America's Finest Shotgun Peter H. Johnson $10
5. Shotgunning Trends in Transition Zutz $8
6. The Double Shotgun (Rev) Zutz $15
7. The Gun Greener $12
8. New England Grouse Shooting Foster $55 to $75 Deduct 20% for condition? Need to look this one over closely.
9. Gunning the Chesapeake Roy E. Walsh $15
10. The Upland Shooting Life George Bird Evans $50 to $75
11. Just Dogs Willow Creek Press $6
12. Successful Goose Hunting Charles L. Cadieux $10
13. Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Decoys & Long Guns C. John Sullivan, Jr. $25

Most of the above numbers were on the low end of the range and all were 'asking' prices. What say you folks?

Dean,
There is no reference to a printing number, but the copyright of Charles Scribner's Sons is 1942. There is a light pencil note to the inside cover "1st Ed" and the price of $75. I should have looked this book over earlier as I had forgotten that it is a 'retired' public library book with stamps to the inside covers and top/bottom end pages including the overstamp of 'Withdrawn' to same. The library's sticker at the bottom of the spine had been removed, but it caused a fading to the printed author's name. There are many beautiful illustrations in the book along with a color print "Grouse Shooting in New England" attached opposite page of the title page. All that being said, these library stamps (The Hill School Library, Pottstown, PA) diminishes its value. However, for an 80 year old book, it is in remarkably good condition with no torn pages or owner's scribbling, buggered cover corners, bent/creased covers or spine.

If you still have an interest, please let me know as I will be taking photos for your perusal soon.

I have taken a closer look at the books and will come up with a list price for each. I encourage you not to make an offer until you have seen photos (and that will be a time consuming project of a couple of days). I will add descriptions, photos and prices in future posts. Kevin M. has first dibs on #13.

Edit/Update: I have decided the best way to offer these books is in separate threads with descriptions and photos. I think that will be less confusing and will allow me to manage time better. I will start with The Parker Story. Stay tuned.

Edit/Update: The ad for The Parker Story 2 vols is now live in the Members Only section 11/30/21 SOLD

Edit/Update: The ad for New England Grouse Shooting by Foster is now live in the Members Only section. 11/30/21

Edit/Update: The ad for Parker Guns "Old Reliable" by Ed Muderlak is now live in the Members Only section. 11/30/21

Edit/Update: The ad for The Parker Gun by Larry L. Baer is now live in the Members Only section. 12/2/21 SOLD

Edit/Update: The ad for two books by Don Zutz (The Double Shotgun Rev & Shotgunning Trends in Transition) is now live in the Members Only section. 12/2/21 SOLD

Edit/Update: The ad for Parker - America's Finest Shotgun by Peter H. Johnson is now live in the Members Only section. 12/3/21 SOLD

Edit/Update: The ad for Gunning the Chesapeake by Roy E. Walsh, first edition, first printing, is now live in the Members Only section. 12/4/21 SOLD

Edit/Update: The ad for The Upland Shooting Life by George Bird Evans is now live in the Members Only section. 12/5/21 SOLD
