Post Need help

I'm a new member and am looking for info on a Parker I've had in storage for 35 years. It's a SxS 12 , 30 inch laminated barrels, serial #20242. It was made in 1880 and is in very good condition. It is very nicely engraved and has a gold shield in the stock. I would appreciate any other info anyone can give me on this gun including any estimate of it's value for insurance. .

Hello Bruce, There are surviving factory records on Parker 20242 to support a PGCA Research Letter. You can download the form from the homepage under Research Letters.
Please show us some pictures of your Parker.

Bruce, the serialization book has 20,242 listed as a D2 (damascus barrels), underlifter, no extras, 12 gauge, 30" barrels, pistol grip stock, made in 1881.

It could just be a mistake in the book. I have one listed as twist in the book though the letter confirmed the laminated barrels on it were original. That or it could have gone back to the factory for a new set of barrels. Only a letter would tell for sure.
