Default The best Fall ...

I've had in years and I only spent maybe two weeks total hunting here in Newfoundland

The local forays weren't too bad,the grouse in my spots were fairly plentiful but due to a late spring cold snap with heavy rain and in some places here,a foot of snow in June....all birds I took this year were adults ...I could only imagine if not for the weather how good it would have been - considering how many birds we seen last Fall

First the barrens ,and the only Ptarmigan I shot this year ,numbers were decent but due to the fact that was my sons first season and the barrens are too taxing with his health issue ,I spent most my days chasing grouse with him

Great stuff Chris - I'm jealous! The grouse in my covers were pretty scarce this fall... probably for the same reasons.

Looks like you were shooting a couple of unusual guns there Chris - can you tell us about them?

First pic is my CH parker ,wearing the 16 bbls
second gun is my Lefever DS custom -real grouse killer that one
and my boy has his custom LC.Smith

He's pretty pumped , just made a shot that I find very difficult ....the grouse had been pointed and busted out 4 times offering no shot ,benny pointed it from a steep ridge it was 50 feet away 20 feet up a tree basically level with the dog pointing on the bank ...I told Jack to get ready while I kicked the tree -I honestly thought he would never make the shot
