Raining.....
Hunted yesterday evening with Dad and Mr. Russell but we never busted a cap.
Raining all day today, not much happening waterfowl wise, so I just visited the infamous Rodney Toler. We drove all around in the country near our home town talking about past hunts and funny occurrences from when we were kids.
Gurton called and tried to temp me into a Mississippi State raid but I passed. Supposed to be a few birds down there but it's a long drive and I could only stay two days.
Going to try for local geese in the morning over in Missouri with a couple friends. I don't hold out much hope for that either but it will be good to see them boys anyway.
Tomorrow afternoon it's back to Mr. Russell's farm for another afternoon hunt. Different kind of a deal though, just my buddy Droge and I going out on the big pond. Hammer guns, black powder, metal reed calls, wooden Victor brand decoys, and even some canvas stick up geese on the bank. Again, I don't hold out much hope for the shooting, but it will be fun to drag out all the old time gear.
Monday I think Toler and I are going to burn some shells up over on a big starling roost near his house. He's had shoulder surgery so he's having trouble handling the gun but thinks he can shoot his little 20 gauge alright.
If Droge and I can manager a couple ducks with the old time gear I'll be happy enough. Full report to follow, I'll even take a few pictures if I remember my phone.
